Gymnastics Consultant and Strength Coach in NJ

Gymnastics Consultant and Strength Coach in NJ…

karen-spotting-hsHow many of your clubs/teams have a CSCS to consult with? How many teams have 30% of athletes (3 of every 10) dealing with chronic pain or injuries? (Too many!)

Let me help you reduce the injuries, improve your athlete’s health, speed progress, and improve technique. I have over 30 years competitive coaching experience and I’m a CSCS. Many of you already know me.

I had a CSCS on my staff in the 1990’s and he helped tremendously. I had less than a 10% injury/chronic pain rate on my team. If I did that, you can too. Injury is not necessarily “part of the sport” if you take a pro-active role. I’d like to be part of your team whether it’s weekly, monthly, or quarterly…

I have helped gymnasts and coaches from many gyms in NJ, PA, NY, CT, WV, and other places in recent years. I have given presentations for the NSCA and USAG. My articles have been published in Technique Magazine and Cheer Coach & Advisor.

Please don’t wait for the injuries, frustration, or parental complaints to get worse!!! I am here for the gym owners, coaches, and athletes… Contact me at 908-278-3756

Become an Olympian?

And here come the calls… from parents who want their kids to be an Olympian… Yes, everyone wants their kid to succeed, but please start with smaller, reachable goals first so your child feels success as they are growing and learning. I turn down 80% of the people who call me for training… I only train competitive athletes. And I only train athletes with reasonable short and long term goals.

Going to the Olympics is a great goal, but only 5-7 gymnasts go every 4 years. In 2020 it will only be 4 gymnasts and maybe an alternate or two. It is easier to become a doctor or lawyer than an Olympic Gymnast. I do have a client who is on the elite level and can reasonably be an Olympian at the next Olympics, if she remains healthy, happy, and continues to train seriously.

There are MANY factors that go into becoming an Olympian besides the daily training including sleep, nutrition, hydration, parents able to help with encouragement, finances, and getting the athlete to training and competitions.

Most importantly, an athlete must have a real passion for the sport. It is incredibly difficult to train more than 30 hours a week for many years throughout childhood and teen years. And keep in mind that the family also makes that commitment. So yes, some gymnasts do get to the Olympics, but be ready for a HUGE, LONG TERM, EXPENSIVE commitment. And enjoy every moment along the way!

I also train swimmers, boxers, dancers, cheerleaders, and other athletes.

Goeller Produces Another Gymnastics State Champion…

I LOVE getting news that one of my clients/gymnasts WON All Around at states!!!

Her original goal two months ago was to improve her form and increase her scores. She more than reached her goals, she exceeded them in a big way!

I guarantee results with my training and this is just one example of what can happen. Many clients often go beyond their original goals. My gymnasts are USAG levels 5-elite, USAIGC, JOGA, high school, etc.

Some of my current and previous athletes have gone on to NCAA division 1 college teams, Level 10 Nationals, Level 9 East-West, have become state and regional champions, and three are currently elite gymnasts.

My athletes of other sports, such as cheeleading, dance, boxing, golf, swimming, tennis, and martial arts are all on competitive levels.

I offer private training and I am happy to visit gymnastics clubs for group training, either sport-specific conditioning or skill technique.

Besides my extensive knowledge in gymnastics, I am a CSCS  (that’s a sports science certification). There are VERY few high level gymnastics coaches in this country who ALSO have the prestigious CSCS certification from the NSCA.

Really? Personal Training for a 4 Year Old? NOPE!

Personal or Private Training is NOT Necessary for Young Children… And I WILL NOT Train a child that young!
I just had a parent of a 4 year old just call me for training… Really, 4 years old?!?!?!
Some of these parents are ridiculous. It is NOT necessary to do personal training for a child that young!!! And too much of anything is NOT good. It can lead to over-use injuries, fatigue, over-training, sports or play related accidents, joint laxity from too much stretching, and burn-out.
Extra training for a child that young can be downright dangerous!
I state on my websites that I will only train 10 years olds and up. Occasionally I will take a younger athlete if it involves conditioning for injury rehab.
